Solomon's
Porch
SOLOMON’S PORCH is the name given to our new small group
ministry time on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. These groups will
be a casual environment where you can meet up each week with other
Salem worshippers to discuss (in groups of eight or so people) points
from the Pastor’s Sunday message, and how we can apply God’s
Word to our lives. There’s a place for everyone, men, women,
couples, new believers, mature believers-- everyone!

"What’s the difference?"
- "Whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time, in the worst possible way” Have you ever felt like Murphy’s Law actually had credibility? Why?

- Like Jonah, God is more concerned with our condition than our comfort. Describe and discuss the relationship between your condition and comfort.

- Read Numbers 13:26, 27. What does the land of milk and honey look like in your personal life? What does it look like in Kingdom service at Salem?

- Read Numbers 13: 28, 29. Pastor JC said the spies added to what God said. What did they add? Was it accurate? Think of personal examples when you’ve added to what God said.

- Read Numbers 13:1. What purpose did God have in sending spies into Canaan? Read Numbers 13:30. Caleb is in the minority. Suppose you’re the 13th spy. Discuss your response to Caleb.

- Read Numbers 13:31-33. Discuss the difference between telling it like “it is” and telling it like it “can be”.

- Pastor JC taught that discouragement follows unbelief. Read 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV). On the encouragement meter where do you register? How best should you proceed? How does accountability fit in?

- Read Numbers 14:24. What was different about Caleb? What part of you isn’t different?

- Read Joshua 14:7, 12. Caleb’s request was based on God’s promise. What has God promised you?
